This is the town, just a few miles from our home in Southwest Harbor, where we catch the ferry to Great Cranberry Island. For this reason, it’s like a second home to some residents of Cranberry. It’s a very wealthy town - Martha Stewart has a home just a few miles away. Lotsa old money here. It’s more wealthy than the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard (per capita) but a lot less well known which is how everyone here prefers it.

Hockey Nuts
This was Samson’s first time on ice skates and he loved it. We have been invited by some new friends a few times to their outdoor, home made rink at their home. Ric and Samson are hooked! And Ric is already planning our own rink next winter.
Stephen King lives in Bangor!
Richard is a fan of his and I kinda sorta am too. He and his wife live in Bangor, about an hour and 15 minute drive away. Bangor is the “big city” around here. It has the mall, chain restaurants and airport.
You can’t see it very well, but the front gate is designed to look like spider webs.

Southwest Harbor
This is home for us until we get to the island this Spring. It’s an adorable little town. It’s also where Stephen King’s “Storm of the Century” was filmed. It’s a classic Maine fishing village with a working harbor filled with lobster boats and surrounded by boatyards.
The house here is great and offers a water view. We’re at the head of the harbor which puts us at walking distance to town and to the shore.
